What Bear Said About Life, Love, and Other Stuff

What Bear Said About Life, love, and other Stuff
By Jack Wiens
Category:-Children's Fiction
Genre:-Juvenile Fiction/Picture book/Values & Virtues
Age:-3-7 years
Pages:-98
Publisher:-Torchflame Books
Blurb:-The boy has a lot of questions-hard ones about love, honesty, grief and loss, prejudice, forgiveness, why we are here, and more.
Bear's wise answers are always offered with compassion and enthusiasm. The friendship between these two is deep, tender, and sometimes fun. Bear's clear, common-sense philosophy of life is a welcome contrast to the complex world our children face today.
On the beautifully illustrated pages, you will also meet Jay, Raccoon, Badger, Elder Moose, and others who add to the fun and adventure.
Walk with Boy and Bear for a while in the woods and see what might learn about life, love and other stuff.
This uplifting book will surely become a treasured collection of simple wisdom, inspiring rich, meaningful conversations between adults and children alike.

My Review:-This is a beautiful book filled with lovely artwork throughout. The boy asks bear questions that children ask or would like to ask but not sure how or if they should. This is a great book not only for children but also adults, just because we are adults doesn't mean we know everything or how to explain things, this book does it in a way that children can understand easier. The chapters are like having a conversation. You don't need to read it in one go, it's a book that can be talked about while reading each chapter.

My Review:-Stella's life hasn't been easy, she lost her parents when she was young and ended growing up in an orphanage. Because of this she has her guard up all the time. The only thing that helps is astrology. Benedict is a widowed single dad and an astronomy professor. What has the star got instore for them both? A cozy, easy read, with characters that fit into a great storyline. All you need is a blanket and a hot chocolate/

The Good Snooze Guide of Great Britain

The Good Snooze Guide of Great Britain
By Robin Bennett
Genre:-Travel/Humour
Pages:-80
Blurb:-The British Isles through a pleasant haze.
This small tome is a celebration of taking it easy, of loafing about but it's also a chance to write about some of the most pleasant spots in Britain. So it could also be considered a guide book-but for lazy people/

My Review:-I love everything about this book. The book can be picked up and put down whenever you have 5 minutes. Each place has fieldnotes and a page that tells you where you are, the time of day, and other bits. Wouldn't it be lovely to sit down and have a snooze whenever you feel like it. We have so many beautiful places and Robin shows this along with some humour. This would make a lovely gift for someone.

My Review:-The story is set on rural Scottish estate of Abbotsford, which Sir Walter Scott built. The story is about a coven of witches known as the Grizels. But within the coven there is Morag, who is kind, helpful, good and loved by the children. It's Morag's job to save the children from a plan that the Grizel have thought of, which would mean the children would going missing, never to be seen again. I don't want to say to much about the book, as it's a lovely story for children to read.

A9:I hate being late for anything, so I'm always 15-30 minutes early. I've brought my kids up the same way. I always say to them it's better being early than late. When I first met my husband, he was always late and I would tell him he would be late for his own funeral.

A hand-written letter is old-fashioned in today's world of emails. but do you think the past has something to teach us?

A7-Yes, I would rather have a hand-written letter than anything on a computer or mobile. A letter is more personal. Writing a letter has taught us to spell without spellcheck, improved writing skills, which we need in everyday life.
