My Review:-I read this book with my granddaughter Emily who's nine-year-old. There are plenty of character for you to meet along the way. When Bernie Bear, Mayor of Bear Town contacts Dr Masha Roo for help as the Potomac Pirates are having problems, could she come and help. Dr Roo tells the bears not to have as much junk food, and Food Pyramid Louie learns the bears a rap. This was an enjoyable read.

My Review:-First I would like to start with the cover, it's bright, it's appealing to both children and adults. I like how they used the letters in the Periodic Table to spell Unicorn.
I love how as well as learning about the Periodic table, children can also colour the unicorns, especially for younger children. My granddaughter asked if she could look for things around the house from the Periodic Table, ie Silver (Ag), Copper (Cu).
I think this is a great way to learn about the different elements on the Periodic Table as it's fun.

My Review:-Where Darkness Lies is Book 4 in the "DCI Priest Series", Even though this is Book 4 it reads well as a standalone.
Three young girls going missing, never found or anyone that knows anything about them, until now. Ten years on and a confession arrive for DCI Priest, can this be true or just someone playing around, if so "Why?",  Why does a prison that is doing time in prison want to confess to something from ten years ago? Not everything appears as it seems. There are twists and turns that will have you asking questions. The story is well written and I enjoyed the storyline. Will be reading more books by Mark.

My Review:-Olly, Mallory and Caz are three friends that can't find love. In a Valentine's Day ritual they make a pact and asks the universe for help.
Mallory gets her dream job, but there is a big problem, her CV or not her CV. Her CV that she made to help her feel better and one day she hoped would be true is in the hands of someone she likes, so when he asks her for help, she could only say "Yes" even if she can't cook, it can't be that hard can it?
Caz is trying to find a man she has meet but never told him how she felt about him. Will she find him? Will he be the one?
Olly, knows his One but can he tell her. Olly really wants to tell Mallory that he's the One and she doesn't need to look any further but what if she doesn't see or feel the same. What about the friendship they have if he tells her. Would you tell her?
This is a enjoyable book to pop in your case and take on holiday or sit in the garden with.

My Review:- With Eco being talked about a lot at the minute in politics, news and general life, there were parts of the book that did make me stop and think. Do we really know what's going on behind closed doors? McGehee is our main character, working as a report for Edinburgh newspaper. He works on a report of an oil worker from Sligachan 6 platform in Arctic going missing, a disagreement with Norway, these are a few things which needs to be looked into further and that is what McGehee does, he keeps going to find out the truth.
Even though it was a bit slow to start, it was worth reading on as it becomes very interesting. I did like the writing style of the author and would like to read more books about McGehee.

My Review:-If a book grabs you from the beginning it's worth reading and this is one of them. The storyline is really powerful, it feels like it could be true, especially the way things are changing so much in the world. The story is told by four characters, Elspeth, Alic, Artie (all who I like) and Sam (who I don't like). Each of them have a different view on 'the law'. If you had to decide, how would you decide?

Foxe and the Cost of Wild Oats

Foxe and the Cost of Wild oats (An Ashmole Foxe Georgian Mystery)
By William Savage
Genre:-Historical Crime Fiction
Pages:-296
Blurb:-"Remember this. Those who sow their wild oats without thought for others sometimes live to reap a bitter harvest."
Foxe and Lucy have had only two weeks to savour the pleasures of matrimony when a well-liked city merchant is found brutally murdered at the quay by the River Wensum. At once, they are drawn into the hunt for his killer.
All agree that Josiah Hartley was an inoffensive, upright man and not at all the type to die in such a violent way. Yet someone hated him enough to want him killed. Who was it? His adulterous wife? An angry competitor? Someone he had cheated?
From the start of their investigation, Foxe and his new wife encounter layers upon layers of confusion, obsessive secrecy and cunning deception. Why did Mr Hartley condone the scandalous behaviour of his wife for so many years? What was the reason for the strangely complex way he had arranged his finances? By what means were the ownership and value of his successful business excluded from his Will?
Only after determined efforts, backed by all Foxe's experience and cunning, are he and Lucy able to thread their way through a bewildering maze of dead ends, irrelevant diversions and carefully hidden pathways to reveal the identity of a vicious killer.

My Review:- Book 9 in "An Ashmole Foxe Georgian Mystery". I had the pleasure of following Ashmole Foxe from Book 1 and now he's back again but now he's with Lucy. I do feel like he's part of my family because I've been with him so long and learnt so much about him.
Foxe and Lucy have only had two weeks together but his services are in need again. The night before his services are called for, his wife Lucy had wrote a letter to her friend Charlotte saying how she was looking forward to upcoming mysteries and murders, little did she know it was going to be that quick.
This murder isn't as simple as some of Foxe's investigation. As Foxe and Lucy start to look closer at Josiah Hartley background nothing is what it seems. Once Foxe starts asking around he starts to find things he wasn't expecting and could it be a link to why he was murdered. These books are really well wrote and I do love that we have characters from previous books. I'm looking for to the finale book, to see what is going to happen with Foxe.

My Review:-This is a page turning thriller sequel 'Paige Hanson Book 2'. You need to read Book 1 "Diseased" as this follows on from where Book 1 ended.
The story is told to us through Paige's prospect, which I enjoyed is it made it more real. The President's only hope of surviving is with Paige, but she not going to make it the simple. Paige must keep ahead of Paul, the president's advisor, if they want to stay safe, but can she keep going?  Paige also has pieces of her husband's car accident coming back to her, but will this be something good or will it make the situation worse?

I did like the writing style, along with the research the author must of done, especially with the vocabulary she used throughout the story. I'm looking forward to Book 2

My Review:-This was an enjoyable book to read and I did like the writing style of this author.
Faythe is a strong woman and would do anything she can to keep her family safe. Her father has trained her from an early age how to fight and if needed she will use what she has learnt, she will never turn away.
Chloe, Faythe's litter sister is the total opposite to her, she is sweet and everything a little girl should be. But when Chloe is attack, it's up to Faythe to find out by who and why Chloe. Faythe will stop at nothing to find the person who has done this and hurt her family, especially her little sister. There are somethings that you won't expect when reading this book, but I will say it had everything I wanted and a little bit more. It did make me think, if Faythe had been a man would it been different.
Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Will Ever a girl he met when he entered Blood Hours, help him and what are her secrets?
I enjoyed this book and the pace that it is wrote in. Anyone that likes dystopian fantasy, this is a book for you.

My Review:-This is my Number One Book of 2023 up to now. I had the pleasure of reviewing the Book a few weeks ago, so when I had the chance to review the audio for this book, I was only to happy to do so.
I decided to listen to the audio on an evening, along with a small lamp on to add to the atmosphere. I'll start with the narrator, I loved that the narrator had an Irish accent which worked really well with Joseph, but even with the other his style was prefect. I found I could picture the story in every detail. I have to say the narrator had me on edge many times, especially when they were getting close to the 'Midwinter Butcher.'  There is so many things I could tell you about the story but I don't want to spoil it. I know I will be recommending this Novel in both Audio and Book to all my family, friends and anyone else that wants a great read.

Fade Into You

Fade Into You
By Catriona Child
Genre:-Contemporary Fiction
Pages:-288
Publisher:-Luath Press
Blurb:-It's 1994, Kurt Cobain has just died, and teenager Alex is spending the summer working in her Aunt's Bed and Breakfast in rural Argyll. The village pace of life is slow compared to home in Edinburgh and Alex resigns herself to a quiet summer spent serving breakfast and making beds. Everything changes however once she meets the twin brothers who live next door.
Spanning the next fifteen years of Alex's life, Fade Into You is a love letter to growing up in Scotland in the 90s and 2000s. Set against a backdrop of T in the Park and the war in Iraq, sound-tracked by Britpop and Grunge mixtapes, with the sweet taste of tablet, it is a novel about growing up and growing apart. It explores the intensity of childhood friendships, how they change as we get older but how they never really leaves us.
 Thank you @catriona.child @luathpress @lovebookstours #Ad #Gifted #Bookstagram #BookTwitter #LBTCrew
My Review:-I have to say this is a book that brought back so many memories. Alex spent her summers helping her Aunt in her Bed and Breakfast in Argyle. Next door lives twins Gavin and Banny. They soon build a lifelong friendship. Like any other friendship they grew apart with University, band life and the Army, but there 16 year friendship ended up together again. We learn of Gavin's PTSD and the trauma he has had to go through while in the army.  This is a book about growing up, how life changes through love, loss, break-ups.
This is a book that I would read again, growing up in the 90s, I would say was the best years of my life. I would recommend this book to anyone that loved 90s or grow up in this era, especially if you loved the music.

Amongst The Mists

Amongst The Mists
By M.L. Rayner
Genre:-Horror/ Ghosts
Blurb:-'As engaging as anything I've read this decade. Rayner is required reading for horror fans.'
Jonathan Edward Durham, author of Winterset Hollow.
It was the most anticipated summer break of their young lives.
For Bran Lampshire, that summer of 1986 would be far different.
The lure of a wilderness adventure sends him and his friends on a troublesome journey that would see them far from home and into the isolated shadows of the Sleathton Estate.
In a forgotten land where nature thrives, an unexplained mist settles upon the shaded grounds. And stories were told of events so chilling, they were forcibly buried over time.
Lose yourself beneath the endless trees. And discover that legends are sometimes so much more than ghost stories.
Thank you @zooloosbooktours
My Review:-This is my kind of book, and one I love to read at night. This is a story of 3 teenager friends that decide go on a camping trip full of adventure but the adventure they came upon was anything but fun. A dark forest, where you could see the mist and felt the boggy ground as you walk. What happens on this camping trip isn't for the faint hearted. This story is told so well, with detailed description that pulled you in, making you want to turn the pages faster to find out what was next for these 3 young friends.
This is well wrote and I'll be looking out for the Matt's next book.

T'ree Tin of Turpentine

T'ree Tin of Turpentine
By Tim O'Sullivan
Genre:-Non-Fiction/Memoir
Pages:-262
Publisher:-Long John Publishing
Blurb:-"Go on say "T'ree tin of turpentine!," you bogtrotter!" was one of many jeers towards Irish families in Leicester in the 1950s, and is the inspiration behind the title of Tim O'Sullivan's debut book.
In 2008, after realising how much people enjoyed his stories at family gatherings, weddings and funerals, Tim picked up a dictaphone and began verbally recording his memories. Originally a passion project destined to be read by the wider O'Sullivan family, Tim was inspired by his son, Ryan, to publish his memoir.
Tim's anecdotal accounts give harrowing and humorous, insights into life as a marginalised child in the 1950s. Born to a dirt-poor Irish mother, Tim weavers rich tales of living in extreme poverty on the unforgiving Mowmacre Hill council estate. This book will strike a chord with baby boomers and entertain any reader looking for first-hand nostalgic recollections of post-war. poverty-stricken Britain.
From narrowly avoiding sexual abuse at a children's home, becoming a teenage father and enduring two prison sentences, Tim's life is a rich jigsaw of highs, lows and laughs. He recounts his mother's struggles at single parenting while avoiding destitution and the shock return of his biological father after being estranged for 17 years. Tim's brotherly bonds are brought to life with stories of John-the brother Tim didn't know he had for the first few years of his life and the tragic addiction-fuelled unravelling of his sister, Mary.
Tim's determination to rewrite his childhood narrative resulted in a rock-solid marriage to his wife, Pam, unshakeable devotion to his children, and numerous business ventures that accrued great wealth.
T'ree Tin of Turpentine encourages you as a reader to think about your own stories and how they will be passed down to your future generations.
Tim's work is an inspirational reminder that no matter how hard you experience childhood suffering, with faith, love, hard work and a lot of laughter, it is possible to overcome adversity.
 Thank you @zooloobooktours #Ad #Gifted #Bookstagram
My Review:-The book starts by telling a bit about Tim's mother and father. Tim tells us what it was like growing up in the 60s and 70s. We get some funny bits in through the book, 'Tim was about 3 when his was running around the ground with nothing on, because his pants were full and he had took them off and posted them through the letter box as he didn't get an answer off mam.'  Tim didn't find out he had an older brother until he saw his mother walking down the street with him. There is so much I could tell you but it would spoil the book, it's something you would enjoy reading yourself. While reading this book it brought back memories of my Nana, as she would tell me about going to church in your Sunday best and how things were when my mother was little. Memories are things that should be made to share, Thank You Tim for sharing yours.

My Review:-Can I start by saying Thank You Ralph for another great book. I was lucky to be asked to review Book one and I still use it now, so when I was asked to review this one I jumped at it, as this is one part of my life I struggle with.
I have problems with sleep and being tired, even if I have 8/9 hours sleep I still feel tired.
The book is set into sections each with a selection of chapters. You get 'checklist' and 'Your Personal Sleep Notes'.  The chapters are not to long that you won't want to read it. Just read what you are comfortable with then go back to it later. There are things in this book that I would never of thought would be stopping me sleeping, I don't want to give and spoilers, but what I would say is 'Get It and Read It' you will be surprised what you read, that will help you sleep better and wake up feeling good.

Accounting For Charm

Accounting For Charm
By Brenda Lowder
Blurb:-To accountant Alex Chase, numbers make sense. What doesn't make sense is leaving his comfortable home to travel to another state and help a friend of a friend with her messed-up finances. Especially since she'd rather channel the power of crystals than straighten out her own life.
Jewelry maker Calista Hollingdale flutters through life like a butterfly. Bright and vivacious, she's impulsively generous and projects a positivity that inspires those around her. She's content to let the pesky details like receipts and bookkeeping slide until she meets tight-laced Alex Chase, the grumpy, dedicated, and stoic numbers man with the under-the-radar sense of humor.
Alex mesmerizes her with talk of income streams and tax withholdings, not to mention his piercing blue eyes and those sculped cheekbones. It might take more than one of Calista's charms to coax Alex's attention out of his spreadsheets, but with a little pull, these opposite forces might just attract.

He comes across an war orphan, that he takes on as his son. We learn about the heliotrope, a collection of mage infused stone and plays a big part of if.  Now 3 years on and she's back. There's something special between Nev and Declan, but Luca and Kai are also wanting more from Nev.

Lawrence are great characters, they both have problems of their own, but they work so well as a team. There are plenty of twists and turns in this story, you won't see them coming. I read this book in one sitting as, every page I turned I wanted to know more. Don't worry I'm not going to spoil it for you, just be prepared.

The murderer is showing psychopathic traits and must be stopped now before they strike again. Who will be the killers next victim? The story is full of twists and turns, some you won't see coming. I was trying to work out, if it was someone that Jana knew or from her past, who would it be. and each time I thought I had it, I didn't. Will they find this person?
