Blurb:-A macabre massacre of a wealthy family brings DCI Christine Caplan to the Highlands in her first thriller in a new series from master of Tartan Noir, Caro Ramsay.
In the village of Cronchie, a wealthy family are found brutally murdered. The Devil Stone, an heirloom rumoured to bring death if removed from their home, is the only thing stolen. The key suspects are known satanists. But when the investigating officer disappears, DCI Christine Caplan is pulled in to investigate.
Caplan knows she is being punished for a misdemeanour when she is seconded to the Highlands, but she's confident she can quickly solve the murders and return home to her fractious family. But as she closes in on the truth, it is suddenly her life, not her career, that is in danger.

My Review:-The Devil Stone is part of DCI Christine Caplan Thrillers. The Devil Stone is rumoured to bring death if removed from their home. Christine Caplan's husband, Aklen can't work because of his health, Kenny her son has dropped out of Uni and Emma her daughter seems to be the only one that knows what she wants in life. Christine's life is going to plan as she is being punished for losing some evidence in a case, she's also been demoted to DI. When a wealthy family is murdered and only one thing seems to be missing, Christine is sent from Glasgow to the small highland village of Cronchie. It's not long before Christine realise that not all the McGregor family has been murdered, there is one missing, could he have something to do with it? The local police happy with Christine being sent from Glasgow to help. Not long after arriving Christine one of the officers has went missing. After looking around the scene, Christine notices that something isn't right, why does the crime scene look like it's been staged. As she start to look more into the case, she realises that her family aren't safe and after an attacked on them, but it also means she's not safe also.
This has everything you want in a book, even a bit of humour, the characters are all likeable in different ways. There are a few twists that keep you guesting
