Blurb:-Love at War begins halfway through World War Two when Anna Christensen has almost completed her training at business college. The daughter of a handsome Norwegian seafarer and his beautiful wife, Anna's looks attract much attention especially from two army officers and is a story of two jealous men and one woman. Charismatic Captain, Charles Milburn and his aide, 2nd Lieutenant Geoffrey Chandler are both attracted to the depot's new shorthand-typist, but it is Charles, although engaged to be married, who Anna finds irresistible.
The seaside town of Barry avoids the ruthless bombing affecting South Wales's cities and Charles revels in his comparatively 'cushy' number. Out of office hours, he's playing tennis, pursuing lady friends, and arranging morale-boosting dances. Charles and Geoffrey are both injured in a nightclub bombing, Anna and Geoffrey become closer as a result, yet after Charles recovers, he makes a move on Anna. After a while Anna finds she is expecting Charles's child but meanwhile Charles is posted to Bari, Italy, unaware of Anna's predicament.

My Review:-Anna and her mother, Ruby get some bad new that her father is in hospital in Scotland and is not expected to make it, so her mother travels to se him. Anna passes her exams and gets a job "Special Reconnaissance Department at the docks. Captain Charles Milburn has a reputation of being a ladies man, all the women seem to fall for his charm and he thinks nothing about sleeping with married women or young ladies. 2nd Lieutenant Geoffrey Chandler is the opposite, he does like Anna but unfortunately Anna does know this. Geoffrey has a conversation will Charles about how he likes Anna but he doesn't know her name at the time and doesn't know what to do. Charles bumps into Anna and her friend, Biddy and decides to find out who she is but how?
There is so much more I could tell you about this story but it would only spoil it for you, all I will say you won't be disappointed. I loved everything about this book.
