Underage, under-financed, and alone on the notorious Dubhbrae estate, Nox's chances don't look good. His mother absconded on her debts and it's not long before Nox finds himself trying to avoid the estate's loansharks and drug dealers. His neighbour, and best friend, Kenzie, Introduces him as a computer genius to Cal, her gang-leader boyfriend. Cal's big ambitions and unchecked ego make him dangerous.
What he lacks in intelligence, Cal makes up for with violence. Against his will, Nox finds himself attempting to please Cal who, in turn, keeps the loansharks away. Dragged further and further into Cals increasingly dark schemes both on the Darknet and in the real world, Nox reaches out for help.
But everybody he encounters has their own agendas. If he wants to survive the crazed, drug-fuelled and increasing violent world of Cal and the other youths on the Dubhbrae estate, he's going to need less of a plan and more of a miracle. But just when he thinks he has a way out, the shadow of his mother turns up once again, in the most unexpected and unhelpful of ways. Nox has to face the realisation that not everyone gets out of Dubhbrae Estate alive, and that might include him.

My Review:-There isn't many books that I can pick up and not put down, but this is one of those books, I read this book on one sitting. There are 4 main characters, Nox, Kenzie, Cal and Jelly.  Nox's is a 14-years old boy, he lives with his mother in a flat on Dubhbrace estate, and the Dubhbrace estate is ran by the Thanes Gang. It's the day of Nox's 15th birthday when he wakes up to find the flat empty and a 16-year-old birthday card, some money and a note to say, his mother has left him to get on with his life as he's old enough now, even when he isn't. He's not  sure what is going to happen or want to do. His best friend and neighbour Kenzie is there for him, along with her boyfriend Cal. Cal isn't like any normal boyfriend as we find out as the story goes on. Nox is pulled into something he doesn't want but how does a 15-year-old boy get out of it. We see the flat that Nox lives in becomes more of a place for Cal to control Nox and get him to do what he wants and for doing that he makes sure Nox has food, a roof over he head and nobody to worry him, apart from Cal himself. I have to say that I loved Jelly and I also felt sorry for him. This is a book I really enjoyed and I didn't guess the end. I would love to see another book to find out what happened next.
